As part of a UC Berkeley graduate-level course on Product Management, I spent a semester assessing the Roblox Marketplace to identify unmet user needs and propose a solution through the lens of a product manager. Following the double-diamond design framework, I did the following:
• Outlined an Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
• Uncovered themes in ICP feedback & competitive research to define areas of product differentiation for Roblox
• Conducted an Opportunity Assessment to identify the following opportunity: To attract your growth target demographic and drive marketplace transactions, expand Roblox Marketplace from a static catalog that facilitates transactions to an interactive, collaborative workshop that fosters exploration and connection for your ICP.
• Defined key Jobs-To-Be-Done for the ICP
• Visualized the ICP's User Journey and highlighted critical pain points in their product experience
• Developed an iterative roadmap to deliver incremental value that facilitated early feedback
• Mocked up a Mid-Fi Solution
The culmination of my work resides in a "New Product Investment" presentation that I delivered to a panel of senior Product Managers from various industries.
Note: Roblox was not an actual client for this project.
"Overall, strong opportunity and a thoughtful solution. You tackled addressing 'fuzzy' problems like collaboration and expression and grounded them in how they exhibit in the marketplace today and what specific features can address them. That's not easy to do."
